Flying: Through the Ages.

Definition of Airplane: A heavier-than-air aircraft kept aloft by the upward thrust exerted by the passing air on its fixed wings and driven by propellers, jet propulsion.

Agricultural: Flying was studied and experimented on.

Industrial Age:

What was its function: To allow man to be able to fly.
Who invented it: A lot of people invented/re-invented the airplane. (1903) The Wright Brothers had the first successful flight of an airplane, they say.
When: Unknown.
Why was it a revolutionary idea: Allowed man to fly, which at the time, people who thought that flight was possible were ridiculed.

What were the working conditions for the average worker using this invention/technology during the early industrial age: FUN AS ALL HECK. not sure but must have been fun to fly.

Information Age (today):

How it is similar to the Industrial age version: They both fly, which is just about it.

How is it different: Modern Jets are faster, normal (Military Jet) O.P. speed is 1,236 km/h(768 mph).
How has the invention changed society positively: Flight is faster, safer, and Military Jets have more Fire-Power due to Jet designs.

Has it contributed to environmental degradation and human suffering: Yes. With War all around us the use of Air-to-Ground missilesbombs/rockets has increased extensively. Bombing people can cause damage to the atmosphere and human life.

Is this invention very important to us today: This invention allows Humans to travel around the world in a very short time.

Evolution of the Airplane!!!

Air-flight drastically changed when the Wright brothers created the first Airplane. It had to chain driven motors mounted on wings. Funny fact: The parachute was made before the plane.

here's a Timeline:

1903: First sustained flight with a powered, controlled airplane.

1914: Automatic gyrostabilizer leads to first automatic pilot.

1914-1918: Dramatic improvements in structures and control and propulsion systems.

1917: First all-metal plane.

1925-1926: First air-cooled engine.

1933: First Passenger plane.

1935: First Practical Radar.

1937: Jet-Engine designed.

1939: First practical singlerotor helicopters.

1939-1945: World War II spurs innovation.

1947: Sound Barrier Broken. Speed of sound is approx. 650 mph.

1949: Commercial aircraft.

1950's: B-52 bomber is made by Boeing.

1969: Boeing 747 is made, nobody thought it would fly.

1990's: B-2 bomber developed.

1995: First aircraft produced through computer-aided design and engineering.

1996-1998: Joint research program to develop supersonic airliner.

Journal Entry #4.5

I've ran back to Rufus's circus and am living with them now. I like it here. I don't have to scam people anymore. After a year of living here I'll be able too possibly start training as a Trick Rider.

Journal Entry #4

My Dad found me. I didn't believe it was him at the start, but it was.

Now I'm working with my Dad on a Fortune-Telling scam. I don't like doing this scam work. It feels as though I'm cheating people out of their money.

Dad is being really mean too me.

You know what! I'm done with this scamming people all the time. I'm leaving.

Journal Entry #3

Everyone is dying. Uncle Jim is dead, Clayton and Clyde and a whole bunch of miner's are dead. I hate losing my friends and family. Why won't it stop. WHY DOES EVERYBODY I KNOW HAVE TO DIE!

I hope Aunty is alright. She gave me some money and food and told me to travel along the train tracks.

I found a circus that Rufus is working at. we both are working as poster boys. We put up posters in the various towns about a week ahead of schedule. We went to a town and started putting up posters. My arms were DEAD, by the time I had finished.

Journal Entry #2

My Uncle Jim came and found me, I have moved to his place in Holly Glen. I am training to be a Mule driver at the mine. My buddy Clyde is a Trapper in the same mine. Belton, Clyde's little brother is hmmm, how do I put it, nutty? He understands the English basics, partly. The reason I called Belton partly nutty is, because of the way he acts. He doesn't act like a normal child his age would. I am kind of excited and kind of afraid to work in the mines.

I'm afraid, because I don't want to die in the mines, like a whole bunch of other people have. For example, coal miners, mule drivers and trappers. I'm also afraid for Clyde, because is going to be working as a trapper, down in the old section of the mines. I'm excited to work in the mines, because I will become "A Man". It's sort of like a rite of manhood.

I don't like Mr. Newgate, because he's very demanding and doesn't have a care in the world for his employees. Also, he employeed a company of body guards to evict anybody that is an union man and their family, even in the middle of winter.

I was ordered to stop telling stories about Walter and his gang of goons. Walter was the biggest and strongest guy at Guardian Angels Home for Boys. Walter could even stand up to Mr. Beadle.

Journal Entry #1

Hi I'm Billy Creekmore! I am ten years old and am currently living at "The Guardian Angels Home For Boys". I don't like living here that much. I don't get fed much at all, we are forced to work hard and if we don't we get beaten harshly. I have a poor life, my Mum is dead, my Dad abandoned me,and my education is bad.

I have a few friends, Rufus, Meek, and some others. Mr. Beadle is big, fat, mean, greedy and a jerk! He was always beating someone that made him angry. Mr. Beadle is the owner of "The Guardian Angels Home For Boys".

The work here can be quite rough. It's basically Farmin' all the time, milk the cows, feeding the chickens and taking their eggs. We don't eat much here, we hardly have any clothing, and Mr. Beadle treats us like dirt. He lied to Mr. Colder about our age so he could make more money. I spied on them one night and heard that quiet little Meek Jones was going to be sent off to a glass making factory. He had run away from the factory and came running back during the night with his hand melted part-way by molten glass. I helped Meek by getting him some food and water, and told him to run along the river till he gets to a town. He was found dead, a day later drowned in a river.
